Freedom for the youth

She scrunched her wavy brown hair into a rubber band and made her way towards the bright lit jewelry shop. She heard the bells jingle as she pushed the door open. The shop itself was quite small but she knew this was the place where a boyfriend came to find an engagement ring or a daughter came to find a lovely gift for her mother. Despite the pounding in her heart and stomach, she walked around each jewelry case studying the items inside. To others, she would seem like any other curious shopper looking for that perfect bracelet to give to a friend, that necklace that was just the right length or that pair of earrings everyone coveted. She dragged her hand across the edge of the case, eyeing for her prize of the day. She came across a bracelet but it was too bulky for her liking and a ring that had a small diamond in the middle but too small for any satisfaction she was hoping for later. At the end of the third jewelry case there was a necklace with a key pendant dangling from the chain. It wasn’t very big but it was memorable. It was simple and probably the least expensive piece in the store.

The karma of fucking over a good girl, is the bitch you end up with.

"The Voice" - Shel Silverstein

There is a voice inside of you
That whispers all day long,
“I feel that this is right for me,
I know that this is wrong.”
No teacher, preacher, parent, friend
Or wise man can decide
What’s right for you– – just listen to
The voice that speaks inside.
